Q: What’s included in the rental price?

A: Pretty much everything. Comprehensive insurance, RAC UK & European Breakdown and Recovery Cover, bedding, crockery, pots and pans, utensils, gas bottle, toilet chemicals, TV and much more.

Q: What age do I need to be to hire a Motorhome?

A: You need to be aged between 23 and 75 with a minimum of 2 yrs driving experience.

Q: I have 2 previous convictions with 3 points for each (6 total), am i still allowed to drive the vehicle?

A: Yes, you can still drive the vehicle but we may wish to seek advice from our insurance provider to ascertain if this will incur additional excess fees. If it does, you will be liable to pay the additional excess fee.

Q: I have 6 points on my license from one previous conviction, am i still allowed to drive the vehicle?

A: We will need to seek advice from our insurance provider prior to any booking confirmation. If our insurer is happy to proceed, this will incur an additional excess fee which you will be liable to pay.

Q: I have been previously disqualified from driving, am I still allowed to drive the vehicle?

A: We will need to seek advice from our insurance provider prior to any booking confirmation. If our insurer is happy to proceed, this will incur an additional excess fee which you will be liable to pay.

Q: Can more than one person drive the vehicle during the Hire period?

A: Yes, an additional driver can be added to the booking subject to DVLA checks.

Q: Can I take my dog(s) in the Motorhome?

A: Yes, a maximum of two dogs are permitted within the Motorhome but they must not be left unattended at any time. We also request that dogs are not allowed on the furnishings unless suitably covered (blankets are provided). Any damage / soilage that occurs will result in additional charges.

Q: Do we need to stay at campsites?

A: No. You can park in many places overnight unless there are specific notices prohibiting you stopping. However we do recommend that you plan to visit some campsites at least a few times during your rental for emptying of chemical toilet etc. If you don’t want to stay in campsites then we recommend that you download and read the wild camping guidelines document. Generally speaking, common sense prevails when stopping in a non designated campsite.

Q: Can we plug in our normal 240V appliances into the van; phones, laptops etc?

A: 240V supply is only available if you are on a campsite with access to a mains powered hookup point. When not in a campsite you have a 12V leisure battery for the operation of lights, water pump, fan heater etc. There are also 12V cigarette lighter style sockets in the cabs of all the vans which can be used for charging phones etc.

Q: How long will the 12V, leisure battery last if we are not on a campsite?

A: The 12V battery should last for a minimum of 12 – 16 hrs if you do not have access to mains electricity. This battery is also recharged when the vehicle engine is in use.

Q: Are car parking facilities available for the duration of our hire?

A: Yes, your car can be stored outside our premises during your Hire period. Note: this is at owner’s own risk.

Q: Will we receive a demonstration on how the van and the various appliances work?

A: Yes, you will be given a demonstration and guided tour of your vehicle before you drive off.

Q: What happens if our vehicle breaks down?

A: Our Motorhome is covered by RAC roadside assistance. A qualified repair technician would attend the vehicle and either repair the fault at the roadside or make arrangements for the vehicle to be transferred to a place where it can be fixed. Details on how to request RAC assistance in the event of a breakdown will be included in your welcome pack.

Q: What are the pickup and return times?

A: The standard pickup time is 3pm on the Hire start date and return time is 11am on the Hire end date. Any requests for uplift and return outwith these times, is by prior agreement only.

Q: How easy is it to access your location?

A: We are 2 minutes from the M74 Junction 20. Train stations are located at Lockerbie, Annan and Carlisle. If you wish to travel by Train we may be able to provide a pick-up service, please contact us to discuss further.

Q: Do I need to pay a security deposit?

A: Yes, we require a Vehicle Damage Excess (VDE) prior to handover of the vehicle. For drivers aged 25 and above this is £500, for drivers aged 23 and 24 this is £1000. The VDE will be refunded to the hirer within 7 days of safe return of the vehicle and subject to damage / inventory checks.

Q: Can I drive the vehicle on a standard car license?

A: Yes, the vehicle weight is under 3500kg which is covered by a standard driving license.
